Obituary For Ada Huckabee
In my Fathers house are many mansions , and the streets are lined with Gold. Our Mother, Ada Marie Chapman White Huckabee is now walking those streets with her Lord and Savior.
Ada, was born February 17, 1940 to J.O & Oma Mitchell Chapman at home, right outside of Loco, OK Ada was one of 11 siblings
Ada attended Velma / Alma school then later transferred to Loco High School where she played basketball for the Loco Hornets. Ada , was also crowned Carnival Queen her senior year in 1958
Ada grew up within a large family in a small house . There was not a lot of anything except love . That was more than enough for Ada. Such as how she had to cook and clean for her family at age 10 Up until very recently when the dementia took the last of her memories, she talked about her childhood as if it was the most magical time of her life
Ada gave her heart to the Lord as a young lady and was baptized at Mt. Grove Baptist Church, just outside Loco, Ok.
She married Bobby Andy White in the same church June 28, 1959.
She gave birth to their 1st child Robin Suzanne September 27, 1961 in Duncan OK. The little family moved to Sherman, Texas in 1964 and stayed with her brother Bob and his family temporarily. June 10,1966 brought the 2nd child Byrle Darren.
Ada married Noah Huckabee in 1989 they resided in St Jo , Texas for 26 years until his death .
Ada was proceed in death by her parents , 5 brothers & 3 sisters
Ada leaves behind a daughter, Robin White Gaines , a son Byrle White. (Gail) 3 grandchildren, Alyson Holder (Tanner) Parker Gaines, Payton White, 3 great-grandchildren, Maddox, Myles and Adalynn Holder. 2 brothers, Bob Chapman (Joyce), Byrle Chapman (Judy) one bro-in-law Keith Odell. Also numerous nieces and nephews & many lifelong friends (in better days she could remember all her brothers, sisters and 28 nieces and nephews b-days.
Ada stayed very active in the many churches she was a member of. Serving in the WMU, teaching children’s Sunday school class or working in the nursery Ada always had a servants heart.
She had the blessing of seeing both her children , and her 3 grandchildren give their hearts to Jesus.
Standing only 5’3”she was rarely the largest person in any crowd, but the size of her heart and the strength of her convictions helped her fill the room on many occasions.
Mom loved to visit, it’s said she got that trait from her Mother. But she was equally at home cooking or cleaning or whatever else needing doing for her family.
In her later years Mom went on many trips with her brothers and sisters. From Vermont to Washington state to Branson mo. And everywhere inbetween, the highways all across this country heard the warm laughter and sweet conversations of these siblings who enjoyed each other’s company so much.
Mom’s health began to decline in the past 5 years or so, fortunately she was able to move closer to her children in fact Robin moved in with her and Byrle was only 15 miles up the road. Ada made every football, basketball and volleyball game of her grandkids that she could.
Ada lost her battle with dementia this past Sunday night but, She immediately stepped into her Savior’s arms ... and her victory celebration is still going on!
We would like to thank Guardian Hospice for the care they gave our Mother , Thank you Clarisa for loving mom and the care you gave her
We will miss our mom so much but find comfort knowing she’s at peace and no more pain
Love you Mom , always
Condolences
