Obituary For Alford Lee Burrow

Alford Lee Burrow born Sept.24, 1934 in Annona, Tx., died in Sherman Wednesday May 25, 2022. Mr. Burrow is survived by his wife of 66 1/2 yrs, Julia (Judy) Funk Burrow, a son Richard Lee Burrow and wife Carrie, a daughter Paula Nell Burrow Booth and boyfriend Dennis Green, a Daughter in Law Jan Nethery Burrow Griffin and her husband Jay Griffin and a Sister Virginia “Jiggs” Burrow Luecke Collvins . He was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey S. Burrow and Nellie Anderson Burrow, a son Michael Allen Burrow, son-in-law Benny Booth, three brothers and one sister.

Grandchildren include Nathan Burrow and wife Ashley, Sarah Burrow Yarbro and husband Kendall, Leah Burrow Hammett and husband John, Michael Burrow and wife Kathleen, Hannah Burrow Holcombe and husband Curtis, Heath Griffin and wife Jessica, Beka Griffin-Garcia and husband Louis, Anthony Booth and wife Ashley, Zachary Booth and Brandi Booth Elliott and husband Dakota . He also had 22 Great Grandchildren. Mr. Burrow, a Texas Native, served his country in the U. S. Navy for 26 years working as an Aviation Ordnanceman. He retired as a Master Chief Petty Officer (E-9) in Dec 1978. Mr. Burrow went on to build over 20 homes in the greater Sherman area followed by 8 years in the Maintenance Department at Hagerman Wildlife Refuge before retiring to a life of fishing and RVing. Prior to his military career he worked in the cotton fields, 2 cotton gins and several positions in the oil fields of west Texas.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at Parkview Church of Christ in Sherman at 10:00 AM. Bro. TH Estes and Bro. Max Lash will officiate. Interment will follow the service at West Hill Cemetery and the United States Navy will accord military honors. The family will greet friends on Monday, May 30, 2022 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman.

    To my Mother Judy, Sister Paula and Bonus Sister Jan, I love you all so very dearly. Our loss is huge and deep but together we will move forward and honor hm in our walk each day.
