Obituary For Allen Franklin Hunter

Allen Franklin Hunter was born on October 16, 1936, in Joplin, Missouri to Robert (Bert) Hunter and Bessie (Betty) Addison Hunter. His family moved to Dallas, Texas when he was a child. He attended Adamson High in Dallas and then Seymour High School in Seymour, Texas where he graduated in 1955. In high school he participated in ROTC and joined the U. S. Navy after graduation. He served about eight years in the Navy on destroyers. After his military service, he went to work for Texas Instruments (TI) in Dallas, Texas and then in Sherman, Texas. His career with TI spanned 32 years. He obtained a master’s degree while with TI. After his retirement from TI, he continued working for another company in the same field for several years. Throughout Allen’s Navy service and his career with TI, he honed skills and gained knowledge in electronics. He could fix or repair most anything. He loved retirement on his farm, mowing, welding, and puttering in his shop. He was always helping his family with projects. He did not like to be idle. His son Mike, whom he lovingly called “boy child”, was his pride and joy. One of his favorite hobbies outside of the farm was bowling. He was on a bowling league for many of his retirement years.

He is survived by his son Mike, two granddaughters, a niece, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert James (Bob) Hunter.
