Obituary For Arthur Edgett

Arthur Melvin 'Biddie' Edgett, 71, of Sherman, passed away at his home on Thursday, November 12, 2015, after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving family. His family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2015, at Dannel Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Melvin was born on January 17, 1944, in Denison, TX, to Leon and Lena Roberson Edgett. He attended Denison schools. He married Karen Hively Valentine in March of 1978. He was employed by Katy-Union Pacific Railroad until he retired in 2004. His favorite activity was spending time with his family and friends, but in his leisure, Melvin was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a wonderful man and will be truly missed by all those privileged to know him. Preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers: Richard, Lonnie and Jesse, Melvin is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Karen; sons: Clif Edgett, Johnny Edgett, and Raymond Edgett and his wife, Heather, all of Sherman; daughters: Patricia Cook, and husband David, of Sherman, Rhonda Phillips of Durant, OK, Christy Carney, and husband Kelly, of Melissa, and Gina Fox, of Sherman; 17 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, Melvin's family suggests memorial donations to Hospice Plus, at 116 S. Woods St. in Sherman, TX, 75090.
