Obituary For Arthur Montgomery

Send Flowers Arthur "Monty" Felix Montgomery July 12, 1930 - June 14, 2014 Arthur (Monty) F. Montgomery Arthur Montgomery of Luella passed away June 14, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family and loved ones. His family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 17th, at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 18th, in Van Alstyne Cemetery. Rev. Kelly Montgomery will officiate, assisted by Rev. Linda Montgomery. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Joe E. Montgomery, his son Roger Montgomery and his grandson Murray Stallings. He was born July 12 1930 in Emhouse, TX to Joseph Kelly Montgomery and Josie Gillard Montgomery. His family moved to Anna, TX, where he spent his childhood. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Yvonne Feddema Montgomery, son Tim Montgomery and wife Linda of San Antonio, daughter Cindy Stallings and husband Dan of Jacksonville and daughter in law Betty Montgomery of Callisburg. His grandchildren, Jeremy Montgomery, Kayla Henry, Stephanie Montgomery, Rebecca Montgomery, Wylie Stallings, and Stacie Means and great-grandchildren, Briley Henry, Ethan Henry, Hunter Stallings, Wesley Morphis and Bailie Vandagriff. He is also survived by his brothers, Bill Montgomery of Anna, Kelly Montgomery and wife Evelyn of McKinney, Kenneth Montgomery and wife Judy of McKinney and his sisters, Georgia Mosier of Anna, Genelle Greer of Anna and Johnnie Fisher of McKinney. Arthur was a proud veteran who enlisted at the age of 18 years old in the Air Force and served his country for 23 years and 8 months to retire as a Sr. Master Sgt in 1972. During his stay in Great Falls, MT in 1951 is where he met the love of his life, Yvonne. His military career also took him to locations in Idaho, Texas, Florida, North Dakota, England and Vietnam. After his retirement from the military, he started a second career with the U.S. Post Office in McKinney. After 19 years he retired, again, in 1992. He then committed full time to his favorite pastime and new career as a rancher and farmer in the Luella community. He found true enjoyment and fulfillment working his land and raising cattle until his death. Serving as pallbearers will be nephews: Larry Montgomery, Tommy Montgomery, Mike Montgomery, Paul Rollins, Jr., Andy Fisher, David Montgomery, Mark Montgomery and Rusty Montgomery. Arthur’s family would be especially honored by memorial donations to any organization whose mission is to serve/assist/benefit any military veterans of this great nation!
