Obituaries

Services for Barbara Ann Vaughan, 83, of Sherman, will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Grayson Bible Baptist Church in Sherman at 11:00 AM. Rev. Roy Webster, Rev. Tyler Bittner, and Bro. Charlie Hamilton will officiate the service. Interment will follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers for Mrs. Vaughan will be Mike Bunch, Blake Byrd, John Endler, William Harrell, Bobby Vaughan, and Ryan Vaughan.

Barbara was born in Celina, Texas, to Ray and Lois Grisham Harris. She married Wilbur Vaughan on January 18, 1960, in Celina. He preceded her in death January of this year.

Barbara was the owner and operator of LaPrincess Beauty Salon in Howe, Texas for many years. She worked at Grayson Christian School as a reading teacher and volleyball coach. She also spent many years as a devoted pastor’s wife in Turo, Kansas and Fayetteville, Arkansas, leading women’s ministries and teaching Sunday school. She worked at and retired from Walmart after more than 30 years. Upon retirement, she helped her husband with gardening and spent a lot of time with family and friends. She later relocated to Sherman, where she lived at Preston Place and attended Grayson Bible Baptist. She loved the Lord and worshipped Him through singing songs of praise and playing the piano. She loved scrapbooking, cooking, and being surrounded by her family and friends. She lived a full life; cherishing moments spent with her family. She was a pillar of strength and kindness, leaving behind a legacy of love and generosity that will be remembered by all who knew her.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur, her parents, and grandson Jason Tatum. She is survived by 3 children: Bobby Vaughan and wife Paula of Denison, Jana Endler and husband John of Tom Bean, and Jamie Byrd Harrell and husband William of Lebanon, TN; 4 grandchildren: Anna Vaughan of Wichita Falls, TX, Ryan Vaughan and wife Micah of Gainesville, Katelyn Puckett of Aubrey, Blake Byrd and wife Kristyn of Lebanon, TN; 5 great grandchildren: Aiden Robertson of Wichita Falls, Obadiah, Winnie, and Rosie Vaughan of Gainesville, and Charlie Mae Byrd of Lebanon, TN.
