Obituary For Barbara Lee Lawrence

Barbara Lee Taylor Lawrence of Sedalia, Colorado passed away on March 28th at the age of 80 years old. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia on November 24, 1942. Upon her father’s return from WW2, the family relocated to Silver Springs, Maryland. She spent 16 years in Maryland, and then the family moved to Sherman, Texas in 1959. Barbara graduated from Sherman High in 1960. After her graduation from high school, she went to work at IBM as a receptionist and as an assistant to the purchasing agent. It was a great job for her as she truly enjoyed meeting new people. On October 1st of 1965 she married John Lawrence, whose blue eyes led her to notice him, while they were both working at IBM. Barbara worked up until the birth of her daughter Keri in 1972. From that point on she was a dedicated wife and mother.

Barbara spent the last 5 years of her life fighting the many symptoms of dementia. It robbed her of much of her personality, but not of her love of family and friends. She was the perfect wife and mother that most people hope for. John and Keri count themselves very lucky to have had her for as long as they did. She will be missed greatly: but we are happy to see her freed from the grasp of dementia. She can now enjoy her place in Heaven.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Frankie Taylor; and her grandparents John and Mariah Mines. She is survived by her husband John Lawrence, daughter Keri Douglas (husband Jason), and three grandsons: Sam, Cooper, and Jack Douglas. She is also survived by sister Sandra Scrivener (and family), and sister Susan Pate (and family).

Visitation will be held at Dannel Funeral home from 5 to 7 on Thursday April 6. Graveside services will be at West Hill cemetery Friday April 7 at 10AM. Rev. Neal Alexander will be officiating. Memorials may be given to Hagerman Baptist church Monday Morning club for their service to members and community. The family wishes to thank Legacy Village Memory care and Lumicare Hospice of Castle Pines Colorado for their loving and compassionate care. Additional thanks to Rev. Neal of Hagerman Baptist church.

My friend Barbara....I'll never forget when you moved into the big house on the culdesac off West Nova Drive in Littleton! The former owner had been a friend, but you became a best buddy ! We had some fun times, you, John and Keri, and you helped me be a new mom in a new house, in a new state with a scary new baby. May your family's wonderful memories of you sustain them during this time of grief. I will always remember you, and your supreme hospitality when we visited your beautiful ranch. Thank you for being me friend. With love, Rocky Alexander
