Obituary For Benjamin Barton

Benjamin Barton III, of Sherman passed away on Monday, October 17, 2016 at Wilson N. Jones Regional Medical Center in Sherman, Texas after an extended illness. Ben was a graduate of Sherman High School, Class of 1970. Ben dedicated his life to his family and farming. There could be no love deeper than that for his family and the land, nothing was more important. He was a man of few words some might call a rugged individualist. He shared many lessons with his children and chief among those were independence and persistence. He would often share many of his tidbits of knowledge for which he had another name. He was deeply loved by his family and friends and described as the man you could call anytime , day or night. Ben was the kind of person who could be depended on to always be there. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kathy, his children Kevin and Kelly Barton and daughter-in-law , Susannah of Tennessee. Ben was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Mary Barton, two aunts, Clara Porter and Ruby Dean Carraway. A graveside tribute will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Whitewright, Texas. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to Austin College, 900 N. Grand Ave., Suit 6G, Sherman, Texas 75090-4400. Arrangements are under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home, Sherman, Texas.

May your memories be of comfort to you in this difficult time. Ben will be missed by so many. He was a very special man and always had a kind word to say to me. We enjoyed talking about our children's accomplishments. Tim mentioned to me that Ben was a good friend to him also and that he will miss seeing him walk through the door at the jewelry store. With deepest sympathy, Delia Ferko
