Obituary For Benjamin Dmitri "Dima" Banner

Benjamin Dmitri “Dima” Banner, 20, of Sherman, passed away on February 18, 2026 in Sherman.

There will be a private graveside service. A memorial service will follow at noon on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at Grace Bible Church of Sherman with Dr. George Cline, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Dannel Funeral Home.

Dima was born in Penza, Russia on March 14, 2005. He and his sister Svetlana were brought home to Texas in early 2011 and dearly loved by their parents Andrew and Susan Banner. Dima attended Grayson Christian School from kindergarten through 12 th grade and graduated in 2024. He worked with his father at the family business, Bethany Garage Door, from a young age and eventually enjoyed carrying out repairs and installing doors and openers on his own for the company. He also worked part time for FedEx as a package handler. Dima was an enthusiastic bodybuilder and eclectic collector of audio speakers, neckties, DVDs, and headphones, among other things. He could fix almost anything mechanical, and he also built wooden furniture and remodeled parts of the family home. He took joy in serving others and did small jobs for many people in his church family.

Dima is preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert and Marion Banner and Phillip and Muriel Sims, and his cousin, Joshua Partridge.

Dima is survived by his sister, Svetlana Banner; his parents, Andrew and Susan Banner; his niece, Rylee Grace Atchley; uncles and aunts Robert Banner (Ruth), Jane Banner Scott (Robert), Rosemary Banner, Gillian Stevens (Owen), and Priscilla Partridge (Jeff); and cousins Hannah Bartlett (Alastair), Rachel Scott, Jonathan Scott, Evan Stevens, and Jillian Kimak.

Memorials may be given to the Grace Bible Church Russian Ministry.
