Obituary For Bernetta Dickerman Wilder

Bernetta “Ned” Dickerman Wilder, 102, of Sherman, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2019. A celebration of her of life will be held Saturday, January 26 at 11:00 am in the Dannel Funeral Home Chapel in Sherman. Reverend Roy Spore of Friendship United Methodist Church in Sherman will officiate. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.

Ned was born October 4, 1916 in Sherman to Lucius L. and Josephine (McCoy) Dickerman. She graduated from Sherman High School in 1934 and worked as the accountant and bookkeeper for the former Halls Furniture in Sherman for 40 years. She married Sherman Wilder on August 5, 1945 and the couple helped raise the nine siblings of Sherman Wilder. They had no children of their own.

As a lifetime member of Friendship United Methodist Church, Ned has served as a Sunday School teacher, secretary, treasurer and in any other capacity needed. She was also well-known for her handwork and quilting. For numerous years, she loved spending every Tuesday quilting with her friends.

Ned is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Sherman, sister Mary Ruth, her best friend Dorthell Scott and several nieces and nephews. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Nadine Zaruba of San Angelo, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and even great-great nieces and nephews who cherished her kind heart and quick wit.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friendship United Methodist Church in Sherman, Home Hospice of Grayson County or Meals on Wheels Texoma.

    I met aunt Ned 43 years ago and right away we hit it off we both did arts and crafts.I loved talking with her about her quilting we both wished we lived close to gather so she could teach me her wonderful talent to quilt and her art work was great along with her musical abilities. I know your happy with God in heaven .Love you Aunt Ned Cindy Yowell

    I have known Bernetta all my life, I remember her talking many times about how much Friendship Methodist Church and her many friends there meant to her. Bernetta will be missed by many people. Sincerely, David Hall
