Obituary For Betty Sue Elwood
Betty Sue Babers Elwood, 84, of Howe, Texas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 23, 2022, in Denison, Texas.
Betty Sue was born in Bonham, Texas to Robert Emmett Babers and Rollie Cassie Miller Babers on June 15, 1938. She attended school at Bonham High. She married the love of her life, Floyd Elwood, on March 8, 1985, in Sherman, Texas. Over the years, she worked several retail jobs and worked as a seamstress. In her free time, she loved to sew, paint, make handmade gifts and care for her flowers, but more than anything she loved to spend time with her family. Betty loved Jesus and was always actively involved in her church, Fairview Baptist and most recently First Baptist Church in Dorchester.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, brothers: W.T. Babers, and Robert E. Babers, sisters: Madeleine Ross, Juanita Wigley, Bennie Jo Glover, her baby boy, Lewis Mark Saltzman and step sons: Danny Elwood, Larry Elwood and Terry Elwood.
Betty is survived by her loving husband Floyd Elwood, son Robbie Saltzman, daughter Debbie Freeman and husband Joe of Howe, Texas, step daughters, Diane Vellotti and husband Danny of Denison, Texas and Darlene Holland and husband Lee of Pottsboro, Texas; sister Mary Alice Wood of Gonzales, Texas; 16 grandchildren (28 if you count their spouses, which she insisted on), and 31 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way.
Pallbearers will be Joe Freeman, Bobby Freeman, Kaanon Freeman, RonDale Freeman, Rusty Henley, and William Henley.

The family of Betty Elwood wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all of the medical staff who so lovingly cared for her.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday June 28, 2022, at the Dorchester First Baptist Church with Pastor Zach Poling and Dr. Kevin O’Brien officiating. Burial will follow at Moore’s Chapel Cemetery in Bonham, Texas, with arrangements by Dannel Funeral Home. The family will greet friends on Monday, June 27, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman.
