Obituary For Billy Thomas Henderson
In the quiet, early morning of December 5, 2020, Billy Thomas Henderson was gently lifted by our Lord and Savior to his Heavenly Home. He now walks in joy with Christ after a year’s long battle with illness.
On Monday December 7, 2020, at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman, the immediate family will gather in prayer and memory of Billy, precious husband, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, and caring brother and uncle.
Billy was born in Whitewright, Texas, to William Thomas Henderson and Thema Jo Ashinhurst on November 8, 1940. He was raised in Sherman and schooled there, where he excelled in athletics, namely football and baseball. He married the love of his life, Peggy Ball, on March 15, 1975, in Plano, Texas.
Billy graduated from Austin College in Sherman in 1963, where he was affiliated with the Drake Fraternity. Throughout the decades he has maintained close relationships with many friends from the school years.
During the Vietnam War, Billy served in Army Intelligence from August 1963 to August 1966. He then enjoyed a long, satisfying career as a property tax consultant, owning his own company for many years, with clients throughout the United States. He was an extraordinary negotiator. Afterwards and toward retirement, Billy engaged in building houses, a longtime dream vocation. A happy man on the golf course, he was not a flashy player, but he showed up well in competition with contemporaries and players much younger than he.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law M. J. Turnipseed. He is survived by his loving wife Peggy; son Will Henderson (and wife Rebekah); daughters Lara Henderson Nolen (and husband Mike), Beth Groce Love (and husband Russell), and Katherine Groce Schneider. Also grandchildren Justin Cheshire (and wife Ashton), Nick Nolen, Ashley Nolen, Connor Henderson, Claire Henderson, Lindsey Love, Carson Love, Jensen Schneider; and great-granddaughter Norah Henderson; also sister Betty Turnipseed and nephews Bill Turnipseed and John Turnipseed.
Billy also leaves his and Peggy’s dear pet Nubbin in her loving care. Nubbin is the last in a line of many adored dogs and cats that Billy cared for dearly. In his memory, donations may be made to one’s favorite animal rescue organizations.
Billy was forever named Eeeee by his first grandchild, with a fist held high. Used thereafter by his entire family, it meant VICTORY. How appropriate.
Condolences
