Obituary For Bobby Overturf

Bobby Ray (Bob) Overturf, age 83, died at his home on Friday, November 3rd, in Sherman, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, November 10, 2017, at Fairview Chapel within Fairview Cemetery located at 1501 Hwy. 91 N. in Denison, Texas. Bob was born in Denison, Texas to Herman James and Jennie Juanita (Bearden) Overturf on November 19th, 1933. After graduating from Denison Senior High School, he served a stint in the Air Force and later graduated from Mortuary College in Dallas, Texas. While stationed at the Air Force base in Amarillo, Texas, he met and married Mary Orpha Dudley in 1954. Bob worked in the funeral business for a while but then spent the majority of his working years as a market manager for Kroger in Denison, Texas and Tom Thumb in Sherman, Texas. Then, as an extension of his trap shooting hobby, he owned and operated Texoma Trap Club in Sherman, Texas until his second retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Juanita Overturf, and his brother, Bill Overturf. Bob is survived by his wife, Mary Overturf of Sherman, Texas; daughters Sheryl Overturf of Dallas, Texas, Marion Overturf and husband Randy Sloan of Denison, Texas, Roxana Robinson of Coppell, Texas; grandsons James Robinson of Coppell, Texas and Jesse Sloan and wife Gena of Denison, Texas. Under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman, Texas, he will be cremated and laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Denison, Texas. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to his attending physicians and the Texoma Medical Center staff.
