Obituary For Bobby Walker
Bobby Joe Walker, 85, of Sherman, passed from this life on September 28, 2015, at Wilson N. Jones Regional Medical Center in Sherman. Graveside memorial services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 7, 2015, at Friendship Cemetery in Sherman. Pastor Leland Samuelson will officiate. Bobby was born October 9, 1929, in Gainesville, TX, to John Clayton and Pauline Cordell Walker. He attended schools in Whitesboro. At the age of 17, Bobby joined the United States Navy. He served from 1947-1951 in the Korean War. During his time in the Navy, he was assigned to two separate ships. After discharge, he resided in California, and worked for his uncle and aunt, learning a trade in the dry cleaning and drapery service. After his aunt and uncle retired, Bobby and his brother Virgil Lee, went into business opening a Dry Cleaning and Drapery Service of their own. Bobby loved telling stories about going into movie stars' homes and hanging drapes that they had sent for cleaning. After selling the business, Bobby returned to his native Texas, where he lived until his death. Bobby is remembered most for his love of old cars and dune buggies. At every visit to the Peanut Festival in Whitesboro, he could be found amongst the old cars. Bobby was a private and soft spoken man and will be missed by his family and friends.
