Obituary For Bonnie Marie Holman
Our sweet Mama and Grannie, Bonnie Marie Holman, 92, passed away October 18, 2024, surrounded by her loving family, in Sherman, Texas. A private graveside service will be held October 25, 2024, at Lamasco Cemetery. Pastor Leland Samuelson will officiate.
Marie was born September 11, 1932, in Alvord, Texas, to her parents Vernie Winthrop Taylor and Lula Isabel Henry Taylor. She grew up with five wonderful older brothers, whom she loved very much – Victor Clarence “Doc” Taylor, Vernie “Junior” Taylor, Elvis “Rex” Taylor, Roger Fern “Rog” Taylor, and John Wesley “Wee Wee” Taylor. The family moved from Alvord to Arizona for a while and eventually came back to Texas to reside in Bonham. Marie became the first person in her family to graduate high school when she graduated from Bonham High School in 1949.
Shortly after graduating high school, she married Garlin Donohoe. They made their home in Sherman, Texas, where they raised their two children, Michael Lynn and Angelina. Her children were the pride and joy of her life. In 1960, Marie went to work for Texas Instruments, where she served for 27 years as a quality assurance inspector. After retiring from T.I., she continued her career by operating a home daycare. She loved taking care of the children, who fondly called her “Mimi.” She retired again after about two decades.
A member of Grayson Bible Baptist Church, she loved Jesus and enjoyed attending church services for praise and fellowship. She also enjoyed reading, cooking (especially meals for family), being outside in nature, gardening, feeding the birds and squirrels, bird watching, crocheting, making ceramics, sewing, building things and repairing items, making flower arrangements, and decorating her home. She loved spending time with her (late) sister-in-law Ruth Taylor, whom she enjoyed traveling with, and her best friend Wanda Hutcheson. She enjoyed playing Bingo and loved sharing her life with her friends and family. She taught herself how to cook and mastered the art. Her favorite memories were serving Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for her family and everyone being together. She was a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother, who dedicated her life to caring for her family.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother, her five brothers, her sisters-in-law, Edna Taylor, Ola Pearl Taylor, Ruth Taylor, and Janie Taylor, and her granddaughter, Mary Lane. She is survived by her daughter, Angelina Trice and husband, Scott, of Sherman, Texas; son, Michael Lynn Donohoe and wife, Sandy, of Sherman, Texas; granddaughter Christina Cavazos and husband, Michael, of Longview, Texas; grandson, Joel Donohoe and wife, Maggie, of Sherman, Texas; grandson, Sean Donohoe and wife, Zoraida, of Arlington, Texas; granddaughter, Jana Donohoe, and partner, Joel, of Corinth, Texas; granddaughter, Beth Morgan, and husband, Thomas “T.C.” Morgan, of Denton, Texas; eight great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Bonita “Bonnie” Taylor; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the nonprofit organization, Home Hospice of Grayson County, at www.homehospice.org.
