Obituary For Bryan Highfill

Bryan Brooks Highfill, 71, of Sherman, passed from this life Friday, December 18, 2015, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison. Graveside services - with military honors - are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 21st in Friendship Cemetery. Bryan was born January 22, 1944, in Sherman, to Brian and Jimmie Brooks Highfill. He graduated from Sherman High School in 1962. He served his country proudly in the US Army 25th Cavalry Artillery Unit. He retired as a lineman from Texas Power & Light Co. Not one for sitting around, retirement for him meant establishing a yard maintenance business. He volunteered often with various veterans' groups in placing flags on the graves of deceased veterans, and also in the maintenance in the cemetery. In his leisure, Bryan was an avid fisherman and also loved to hunt. He also liked to watch drag-racing. Predeceased by his parents and his brother, Weldon Highfill, Bryan is survived by his dear friend Janice Pogue, many friends and extended family, and his special canine companion, Tag.

Brooks and I worked together for several years in Carrollton for the electric company. He was highly regarded as a knowledge base for the younger lineman and a hard worker and a mentor for many. I will miss him and our phone visits. He was a good man and a honorable veteran. God bless ~ David Dean, Santo, Texas

I remember Brooks when we were students at Robert E. Lee Elementary School. For far too long I drove past his home thinking that one day I would stop to speak to him. ~ Fred Holbrook, Sherman, Texas
