Obituary For Camilla Quassa

Camilla Frances Quassa, 76, of Hendrix, Oklahoma, passed from this life Saturday, August 1, 2015, at The Medical Center of Plano. Memorial services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 8th at Hendrix Baptist Church. Camilla was born May 20, 1939, in Sierra Blanca, TX, to William and Elizabeth Ruth Moore Tidwell. She graduated from El Paso High School in 1956, and married Frank Graves Jr. just a few months later. They enjoyed over 15 years together before his death in 1971. She later married James Charles Quassa. He preceded her in death in 2007. Camilla was an all-American cowgirl. Born on a West Texas ranch, she rode her horse to and from school every day. Throughout her life she was heavily involved in raising horses, showing horses and riding horses; whether barrel-racing competitions, rodeos, parades or leisure. The event was immaterial, as long as she could be in the saddle. When she wasn't on horseback, Camilla was likely to be found reading. She also loved Texas country music. Among her favorites were Stoney Edwards, Marty Robbins and George Jones. Camilla was a kind, generous person and took in strays anytime they showed up; four-legged or two-legged. She was known as 'Mom' or 'Nana' to most of Hendrix, OK. Her house was always a refuge for anyone who needed a place to go. Camilla was preceded in death by her parents, both of her husbands, three brothers and a sister, daughter Mollie Ogelsby Smith, and grandson Billy Bob Berry in 1998. Survivors include her sons: Tommy Graves and wife Kimberly Stockbridge, of Hendrix, and Elton Michael of Sherman; daughters, Kristal Jordan and husband Michael, of Pottsboro, and Donna Fannin, of Denison; grandchildren: Shane Graves, Roger Graves, Danielle Smith, Shawn Hammonds, Tanner Hoaglen, Sierra Hoaglen, Anthony Jordan, Cheyenne Hoaglen, Zachary Jordan, Lexi Jordan and Angie Ogelsby; great-grandchildren: Ember Graves, Caleb Graves, Amara Smith, Payden Smith, Dillon Hammonds, Benny Hammonds, Julie Hammonds, Logan Hammonds, Jace Todd, Gabrielle Ogelsby and Jada Davis; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of precious friends. Serving as honorary pallbearers are: Stanley Cobbs, Trey Blanton, Derek Smith, Chris Dill, Sonny Dutchover and Raymond Glenn.

Words can not explain the loss that is felt by all that knew Cami. Heart that big touches so many. We will all remember her with much love in our heart, tears in our eyes and a smile on our face. If there is a separate heaven for animals, that is where Cami is, not even the good lord will argue with her about it! Love you Cami! My heart goes out to all the family, I would say be at peace cause she is now resting in peace, but I know she already found something in heaven to clean, or take care of.... Thank you Lord for allowing us to share Cami's Love! Prayers for you all! ~ Tina Highfield, Calera, Oklahoma
