Obituary For Carl Stanley Hefton
Carl Stanley Hefton, 97, passed away Thursday, December 6 at Wilson N Jones Medical Center, Sherman. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Bethel Baptist Church, Whitewright. Brother Roland Ouellette will officiate. Interment will be Wednesday at 11:00AM at the DFW National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Ryan Hefton, Bret Hefton, Adam Hefton, Matthew Schaefer and nephews, Robby Hefton, John Hefton, Randy Edmonds, Michael Darin Edmonds, Jeff Edmonds and Logan Langford. Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Carpenter, Pete Phillips, Joe Hicks, Charles Hines, and Jim Dennis.
Stan was born November 22, 1921, in Sherman, Texas to the late Robert and Alice (Ritchie) Hefton. He graduated from Sherman High School in 1939 and Austin College in 1948. He worked as a florist and owner of The Home of Flowers for 27 years. Mr. Hefton was an Air Force veteran of World War II, from 1942-1946, and was awarded service medals from the American and European- African-Middle Eastern Theatres as well as a Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the Rotary Club, American Legion, Sherman Ex Students Association, and a life-time member of the VFW.
In November, 1979, he and Myra Langford were married in Durant, OK. He was a Baptist, and he and Myra are currently members of the Bethel Baptist Church.
Mr. Hefton is survived by his wife, Myra, of Sherman; two children, Carl Hefton and wife Gail of Dallas and Rachel Schaefer and husband Roger of Fairfield Twp. OH.; four grandsons, ten great grandchildren, brothers in law, Hal and Charles, and sister in law, Alta and numerous nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Dorothy Carpenter Hefton, twin infant sons, Jacob and John, and one brother, Don Hefton.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Monday at Dannel Funeral Home and at 10:30 AM, Tuesday prior to the funeral service at Bethel Baptist Church.
Memorials may be given to Bethel Baptist Church, P.O. Box 192, Whitewright, TX 79491 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
