Obituary For Carolee Ann Adams

Carolee Ann Adams, 91, a long time Sherman resident, was peacefully sleeping when she went to meet the Lord on May 23, 2024 and was reunited in Heaven with her husband of 50 years, Richard (“Dick”) Adams.

Born in Tonkawa, Oklahoma in 1933, Carolee grew up in Blackwell, Oklahoma where she also played the organ at the First Baptist Church. She met Dick when they attended Oklahoma A&M (now Oklahoma State University). Carolee was a gifted artist who excelled at china painting and was an avid quilter. She was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church and UMW, United Methodist Women and Stratford Club.

Carolee is survived by her sister, Sharon Parsons of Missouri and her sister-in-law Wanda Groce of Sherman. She is also survived by her son Rick and daughter-in-law Pam Adams of Omaha and her daughter Cindy and son-in-law John Penn of Fort Worth.

Family was the greatest joy of Carolee’s life, and she was blessed with 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren – Courtney Adams and her spouse Nick Jennings, their children, Juliette and Alexander; Brandon and his spouse, Elizabeth Adams and their son, Vance; Kyle and his spouse, Megan Adams; David Penn and his fiancé Kailey Corpman, and Daniel Penn. Carolee’s extended family includes several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 31 at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman with family visitation there at 1:00 p.m. Memorial gifts can be made to First United Methodist Church of Sherman.

We remember Carolee Adams and her husband Dick with fond memories of our travel to the Rotary International Convention in Mexico in 1991–the year that Dick was President of the Sherman Rotary Club and I was President of the Grayson County Rotary Club. May she rest in eternal peace.
