Obituary For Carrell McCollum

Carrell Ann McCollum, 70, lifelong resident of Sherman, passed from this life Sunday, July 12, 2015, at her home. Family visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 15th, at Dannel Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 16th, in Dannel Funeral Chapel. Rev. Roy Spore, of Friendship United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will follow immediately afterward in Friendship Cemetery. Carrell was born October 14, 1944, in Sherman, to Nova and Gracie Birdsong Springfield. She attended Sherman schools, and later received her occupational associate's degree from Grayson County College. She married Ronald McCollum on December 2, 1960. As a licensed beautician, she owned and operated Hair Flair salon for over 35 years. In her leisure Carrell enjoyed traveling, shopping and decorating. She attended Friendship United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by her parents, brother Alvin Springfield, and son-in-law David Pickens, Carrell is survived by her precious husband Ron; son Rodney Mccollum and wife Amanda, of Plano; daughter Rhonda Pickens, of Sherman; brother, Dean Springfield and wife Betty, of Garland; sisters Margie Stokes, of Albuquerque, Mary Jane Stewart, of Lubbock, and Lorene Addington and husband Delbert, of Savoy; grandchildren: Mallary Pickens, Ryan McCollum and Olivia McCollum.

    The day she was born God had a plan and purpose for Carrell's life. Whatever task was placed in her capable hands she completed and accomplished knowing it was a job well done. She was personable, friendly and kind. Hair Flair reflected her good business sense. Her shop was a a social media place where people were not just clients but friends. A person of hospitality, Carrell's warmth and inviting presences always made you feel accepted and cared for in her environment.Loyal friend, faithful wife and mother, savvy business woman, great decorator and homemaker, a woman of many talents to numerous to list, but her greatest testimony was her love for Jesus Christ.
