Obituary For Carrie Gayles
Carrie Gayles, 90, of Sherman, passed from this life on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at her home. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 9th, in West Hill Cemetery in Sherman. Chaplain Jerryd Wallace of Home Hospice of Grayson County will officiate. Carrie was born March 15, 1924, in Notasulga, Alabama, to the late Ward, Sr. and Nannie Mae Rowell Towers. She attended school in Birmingham, and graduated from Tuskegee Institute in 1947. She also attended the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. She was married to William Henry Gayles, and from that union was blessed with two daughters. She retired from the Jefferson County School System in 1989. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers Bobbie Joe Towers and DePriest Towers, and sister Virginia Towers, and daughter Cheryl Hightower, Carrie is survived by her son Robert Larry Allen of Georgia, daughter Denise Little, and one brother, Ward Towers, of Alabama. She also leaves four grandchildren to cherish her memory: Nia, Eric Anthony, Royzell and Carmen.
