Obituary For Charleen Mae Latinis

Charleen Mae Odorizzi Latinis, 89, of Pottsboro, Texas passed away peacefully at her home on July 1, 2021. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Chapel on the Hill Mausoleum at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman.

Charleen was born on May 15, 1932 in Superior, Wyoming to John and Mary Odorizzi. She was the oldest of three children, Charleen, Betty, and Joseph. She was raised in Superior and attended schools there. She enrolled into Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Denver, Colorado and later that year she married the love of her life, Gary Latinis. Her husband was in the United States Air Force and they moved to Moses Lake, Washington where they had their first child, Debbie. They moved to Vacaville, California where they had their son, Scott in 1957. Gary was then transferred to Japan and they lived abroad for a couple of years before returning to Columbus, Ohio. From Ohio the family moved to Texas, then to Michigan, before Gary finally retired from the Air Force in Texas. Charleen received her nursing certification in both Ohio and Texas so she could continue work as a registered nurse. The family made Pottsboro their permanent home after Gary’s retirement and they loved being close to Lake Texoma where they could enjoy that time with their family.

Charleen loved her family and she was an amazing cook. Her Italian heritage greatly influenced the dishes that she prepared that were passed down from her mother and previous generations. She loved to crochet and make items for her friends and family. She was very loving and traditional. Charleen enjoyed music and would travel to see shows by some of the more popular acts of her time with her husband. She was a lifelong devout Catholic and made sure her family was raised in the church. She was a remarkable woman who put her family first always. She will be greatly missed.

Charleen was preceded in death by her husband, Gary; her parents, her daughter, Debbie, and her brother, Joseph. She is survived by her son Scott Latinis and wife Christine of The Woodlands, Texas; three grandchildren: Mary Anne, Gary David, and Stacie Latinis; sister, Betty Rumpf of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and six great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
