Obituary For Charles Risinger
CHARLES COOPER RISINGER SR. Charles Cooper Risinger Sr. 82 of Sherman passed away Saturday Feb. 11 at Medical Center of Plano. Graveside services will be held on Wed. Feb. 15 at 11 a.m. at Glen Fawn Cemetery in Rusk Cherokee County TX. Visitation will be held at Dannel Funeral Home Sherman Texas on Tuesday Feb. 14 2012 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Charles was born in Rusk TX on March 2 1929 to Bronson Cooper and Agnes (Jones) Risinger. He was educated in the public schools of Frankston and was offered a basketball scholarship. After graduating from Frankston High School in 1947 he maintained a close relationship with his basketball coach H.C. Hicks and his wife Reba. On August 29 1974 Charles married Norma Jean Sutherland in Dallas and they enjoyed 37 adventurous years together. Prior to this marriage he was blessed with two children Linda and Charles Jr. Charles was always a hard worker and he spent 37 years with Hormel Meat Co. before retiring. He also played intensely at corporate basketball for twenty years and went on to officiate high school basketball with the Dallas chapter refereeing at church leagues and tournaments. He also officiated at little league baseball. Charles had a passion for restoring antique cars and always had a story about the many deals he had made. One thing he would never do was to talk about his generosity to others in need. He was always concerned with the well being of his family and friends desiring only the best for them. He also enjoyed working at the State Fair of Texas with his wife his children and grandchildren. He also loved attending basketball tournaments with his brother James Risinger. Predeceased by his parents and stepmother Pearl Risinger, ex-wife and friend Bobbie Jean Risinger, daughter Linda Sparks, brother James Risinger and sister-in-law Anna Jo. Survivors include his wife Norma Jean of Sherman, son Charles Cooper Risinger Jr. and wife Karen of Mesquite, son-in-law John Sparks and wife Marty of Dallas, granddaughter Kimberly Sue Risinger of Kilgore, grandson Brian Cooper Risinger and wife Cristie of Rockwall (great-grandchildren Daleton and Ethan), granddaughter Shanya Kay Matthews and husband James of Waxahachie (great-grandchildren Josef Samantha and Sarah), sisters-in-law Melba Roe of Sherman and Barbara Franklin and husband Leon of Belen NM. Also nieces Luann Mire and husband Pat of San Antonio (great-nephews Alan and Andrew) and Beth Wilder and husband Clay of Henderson (great-nephews John and Ben), nephew Jimmy Lynn Stanley of Sherman, and great niece Renee Rogers of Phoenix AZ.
