Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, June 29, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Claire Connor was born in Sherman to George Connor and Martha Hix on May 27, 1939. She married Richard Baker on November 3, 1955 in Sherman. She worked at various places, including Montgomery Ward in houseware sales and Sherman ISD as a food service employee. She also volunteered as a foster grandparent with SISD after retirement. Her most important career, however, was caring for her family and friends.

Claire was more than just a beloved family member; she was a grandmother to all who had the pleasure of meeting her. Her warmth, kindness, and generous spirit extended beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of friends, neighbors, and even strangers. With her open heart and welcoming smile, she made everyone feel like they belonged. Her home was always a haven of comfort and love, where anyone could find a listening ear and a comforting meal. Claire will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of those she embraced as her own.

Claire is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son Rick Baker, brother Frank Connor, son-in-law Roger Calhoun, and sister Ellen LaFoy.

Claire is survived by her daughters, Bonnie Calhoun, Cathy Baker, and Cindy Baker; siblings, Linda Denison, Elaine Tyson, Richard Connor, and Dorothy Connor; grandchildren, Tara Baker, Ricky Baker, Meagen Baker, Allison Baker, Stephanie Aguilar, Jose Aguilar, Connor Calhoun, De’Ja Oliver, and Mariah Oliver; great-grandchildren, Maxson Baker, Reece Baker, Evelia Aguilar, and Noah Aguilar.

Pallbearers will be Jose Aguilar, Ricky Baker, Connor Calhoun, Chad LaFoy, John LaFoy, and Wayne LaFoy. Honorary pallbearer will be Maxson Baker.
