Obituary of Clarence White 07/06/1935 – 03/10/2020
Clarence Eugene White, 84, of Sherman, TX, passed away on 03/10/2020 in Anna, TX. He had lived in Sherman, TX fifty four years, Allen, TX for three years prior to moving into a private VA home in Anna.
Clarence was born in Putman, TX, to Stella & Lewis White on the sixth of July in 1935. He graduated from Caddo High School in OK. He was inducted into the Army and served during the Korean War discharging from active duty into the Army Reserve. He married Elizabeth Ann Bearden Covington on the eighth of February in 1959 at 4:30 AM in the living room of his parents home in Caddo, OK. He attended Southeastern Oklahoma while serving as Mayor of Caddo, Ok. He worked as a Dallas police officer for a few years, eventually moving his family to Sherman working at with the Sherman Police Department and was the first officer with a canine dog named Jeronemo. Clarence worked and retired from the Sherman Fire Department as a fire fighter and a certified EMT. He was involved in Sherman Beagle Club, Texoma Bluegrass Association, and was an active member of the Church of Christ.
Clarence is preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth White, his daughter Kimberly Spurlock, his parents Lewis White & Stella White, his brother Randolph White, his sisters Willene Huckaby, Iona Varner, Xenia Lillard and Sylvia Goss.
Clarence is survived by children: Jerry & Cindy Covington of Belt, MT, Richard & Jan Covington of Allen, TX, Tonya & Earnie Olin of Alpharetta, GA, Rhonda & Robert Pickney of Colbert, OK and son-in-law Jerry Spurlock of Belt MT. His sister & spouse Lacey & Laverne Cooper. His grandchildren & their spouses Mandy & Jason Koppany, Mechelle & Jeff Merriman, Misty & Joey Filipowicz, Amy & Kane Sweet, Karen & Dustin Thomas, Kyle Olin, Leah & Kyle Peirce, Robert & Tina Spurlock, Tiffany Sholey, Andrew Sloan, Erica Sloan and Montana Covington, and many great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Olin, Andrew Sloan, Kyle Pierce, Montana Covington, Mason Pratt and Nathaniel Gill. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Spurlock, CJ Lewis, Coulton Lewis, Joshua Gill, Brain Pickney, Adam Pickney, Canon Pratt, Braydon Pratt, Brandon Filipowicz, Cashton Sholey, Hayden and Kayden Newkirk, Ryan Spurlock and Nolan Thomas.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Fisher House Foundation – 12300 Twinbrook Parkway, Suite 410 Rockville, MD 20852.
On October 9, 2020 at 9:00 AM at Highland Cemetery in Durant, OK the U.S. Army will conduct Military Honors for Clarence. Everyone is welcomed to attend.
