Obituary For Climmie E. Hunt
Climmie E. 'Buddy' Hunt, 94, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, June 11, 2015. He was born October 14, 1920 in Sturgis, MS, to Climmie and Jody Hunt. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps after high school, then joined the Army Air Corps at the onset of WW II. He served in the US Air Force for more than 27 years, retiring as Chief Master Sergeant. He is a veteran of WW II, Korea, the Cold War and Vietnam. Buddy married Cleo Templeton in 1942. They were married 66 years before her passing in 2008. He was a man who believed in helping others. In many ways he epitomized the Alan Jackson song 'Small Town Southern Man'. He loved his God, stood for his country, and he loved his family. A carpenter by trade, like his father before him, he and Cleo joined two Baptist building groups after retirement from the Air Force, and traveled extensively helping churches construct new buildings or additions. He was a lifelong Southern Baptist and a member of West Sherman Baptist Church. He was a member of Travis Masonic Lodge, a Mason for over 65 years, The Scottish Rite and a Shriner. He loved flowers and watching birds and was an avid fisherman. Buddy Hunt was a member of the Great Generation and believed in God, Duty, Honor, Country and family. His word was his bond. Preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, two sisters and his wife, he is survived by his son John Hunt and wife Donnelle, of Tom Bean, TX; granddaughter Amy Hunt-Williams and husband Craig, of Denison, TX; grandson John Hunt, Jr and wife Ramona, of Sherman, TX; Emily Thompson and husband Michael, of Tom Bean, TX; two great-grandsons, Ryan and Tyler Williams, of Denison, TX; sister-in-law Vivian Coleman and husband Alvin, of Ackerman, MS; nephews David Coleman and wife Dianne, of Brandon, MS, and Ed Coleman, of Memphis, TN; step great-grandson Jordan Sellers, of Plano; step great-granddaughter Falon Myrick, husband Jake, and their daughters Sydney and Kaleigh, of Tom Bean, TX; numerous other nieces and nephews, along with a great many friends. Serving as pallbearers will be members of the United States Air Force Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers are: John E. Hunt, Sr., John E. Hunt, Jr., Craig Williams, Ryan Williams, Tyler Williams, and Michael Thompson. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the American Heart Association. Family visitation will be from 2:00 - 4:00 Sunday afternoon, June 14th, at Dannel Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 15th, at West Sherman Baptist Church. Rev. Danny Wood will officiate. Interment - along with Masonic Rites and full military honors - will be in Cedarlawn Memorial Park immediately following the service.
