Obituary For Clora Edwards

Clora B. Edwards, 78, of Sherman, passed Thursday, January 8, 2015, at her home. A Memorial Service, hosted by Community Baptist Church, 300 S. Maxey in Sherman, will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. The family will be at 3013 Mimosa Dr. at other times. Mrs. Edwards was born July 2, 1936, in Ladonia, TX, to the parentage of Bill Odell & Lera L. (Odetta) Smith. She graduated from Clark High School in Ladonia. Clora was one of ten children, five boys and five girls. She married Rex Haywood, and to this union was born one son, Ricky Glen. He preceded his mother in death. Clora moved to Dallas where she was employed by Braniff Airlines as Head Chef, and later, Mary Kay Cosmetics, also as Head Chef. At various times in her career, she owned several restaurants in Dallas, before moving to Sherman. She was a sharp business woman and her food preparation was a work of art. She worked for several area residents in Sherman before finally retiring. She is preceded in death by her son, Rick Glen; her parents; brothers, Joe Smith, Douglas Johnson, Ross Smith and Billy Smith; sisters, Judith Dean Brown, Elnora Smith and Katherine Smith. Survivors include one sister, Cora A. Porter (Clarence), and one brother, Larry D. Smith, both of Denison; one granddaughter, Lola Monique Allen(Dewayne); one great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.

    Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers with the passing of Clora. I loved Clora! She helped me with my daughter's wedding reception and also with the Capriccio Benefit, Community Series through the years. We had so much fun!!
