Obituary For Coy Motley
Coy Theo Motley age 88 passed away on September 24 2013. Coy was born August 19 1925 in Savanna OK the son of Joe and Belle Motley. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday September 28th in Dannel Funeral Chapel. Rev. James Moore of Fairview Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery in Durant OK immediately following the service. The family will receive friends at Dannel Funeral Home one hour prior to the service. Coy was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis Loper Motley his parents Joe & Belle Motley 6 brothers and 3 sisters. He is survived by son Coy Wayne and wife Beth of Dallas TX son Phillip David and wife Debbie of The Woodlands TX and son Michael Jay and wife Jackie of Sachse TX. Grand children Amy and husband Robert McDaniel Jacob and wife McKenzie Motley and Tyler Motley. Step-grandchildren Julie Gilmore and Janiece Black. Great-grandchildren Cameron and Alexis McDaniel and Payton and Paxton Motley. Coy is also survived by one sister Beckie Marlow of Savanna OK. Coy graduated from high school in Savanna OK and later graduated from Southeastern State College in Durant and received his Master"s Degree from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces NM. He spent 40 years in public education retiring from Region XIX Education Service Center in El Paso TX. During Coy"s 40 years in public education he served as a High School teacher of Social Science Industrial Arts Basketball Coach Vocational and Academic Counselor and Principal. Upon retirement in 1987 Coy and Phyllis moved to Sherman TX to be near family in Oklahoma and Texas. They joined Fairview Baptist Church in 1987. They were very active in the church. Coy served as a Deacon and they both enjoyed the 55 Plus Sunday School Class. Coy was a devoted father grandfather and great-grandfather. Coy enjoyed church activities traveling with Phyllis and spending time with his sons grand children and great grand children. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Diabetes Association of Texas or Fairview Baptist Church Beyond Belief Fund.
