Obituary For Danny Douglas Bray

Danny Douglas Bray, 82, of Sherman, TX, passed away on August 6, 2021 in Yukon, OK.

Visitation will be 4:00PM Saturday, August 14 at Grayson Bible Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held following the visitation at 5:00PM at Grayson Bible Baptist Church with the Reverend Keith Bassham officiating. Burial will follow at Akers Cemetery. Arrangements are by Dannel Funeral Home. Dan was born in Pilot Point, TX on November 2, 1938 and was soon thereafter adopted by his loving parents Stephen and Mary Bray. He went to school at Sherman High School. Dan married Sherry Lilley on May 24, 1961 in Amarillo, TX. He graduated from Baptist Bible College. He worked as a Baptist minister for 20 years and continued his ministry as a Sunday School teacher for many years after. Dan married Patsy Byler on July 23, 1983 in Sherman, TX. He retired from the Texas Department of Transportation after 30 years. Dan was involved in Boy Scouts for most of his life, earning the level of Eagle Scout as a teenager. He also served as Chaplain for the Sons of Confederate Veterans for many years as well as serving faithfully in his home church of Grayson Bible Baptist.

Dan is preceded in death by his father Stephen Bray, mother Mary Bray, wife Patsy Bray and granddaughter Mandy Cox.

Dan is survived by his daughter Shelly Sexton and husband Cody, son Steve Bray and wife Cindy, son Rusty Bray and wife Melissa, daughter Kristi Shamasko and husband David, daughter Kara Moran and husband Greg, grandchildren Jack, Hank, Blake, Cora, Timothy, Priscilla, Angie, Kabrisha, Alexandra, Austin, Morgan, David, Ashton, Bailey and Chandler, great grandchildren Azaria, Zayden, Izaiah, Hudson, Adaline, Palmer, Judah, Collins and Gentry as well as countless friends and loved ones.

Pallbearers will be Blake Bray, Austin Bray, Jack Patton, Hank Patton, Timothy Bray and Adam Chastain.

Memorials may be given to Dannel Funeral Home.

    I used to work with Patsy at the Cable Company years ago. .we were both single parents struggling...she met Dan and he was like a Knight in shining armor...He immediately started taking care of Patsy and her girls...I really respected him that he made their lives so much easier..I only knew Dan through Patsy but I could tell he was a good man..To his family I will pray for you because I know what a big ❤️ will be missing in your lives..💙🙏
