It is with great sorrow to announce the passing of David Carlos Payne on November 7, 2022. He passed away peacefully at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas with his family by his side.

Then he became self-employed doing appliance and repair work at "Dave's World" until he retired. He enjoyed cooking for his friends and family and was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved jamming out to music and his favorite was gospel music. He was a member of the American Legion SAL Post 231, where he was passionate about volunteering for veteran causes. The last 12 years of his life has been dedicated to his grandson Zaiden, teaching him and participating in all his activities involving his sports.

David is survived by his wife Penny Payne; his brother Carl Payne, wife Louise; son John David Payne, wife Kimberly; daughter Mallory Crist; one grandchild, Zaiden Toney; best friend Willie Stewart; as well as many family and friends whose lives he impacted along the way. I loved David! He was my step-dad for 10 years but continued to be a friend and a relationship that I cherished 20+ years later. I could always count on him! He made an impact on my life and everyone that he met. He never met a stranger:). He will be greatly missed!

I first met David when my son and his grand son began playing football together. We sat beside each other at their practices.I didn't even know his name , but we enjoyed some great conversations every time. During all this I needed an appliance repaired. I askeed around about who did appliance repair in Pottsboro. Of course, everyone said David Payne. When I went on FB to find him I then realized what a dummy I was. Unfortunately he had stopped working at the time. I sure did like him a lot. I feel honored to call him a friend. My deepest condolonces go out to all of the family. He will surely be missed.
