Obituary For Dean Cathey

Graveside services for Lenual "Dean" Cathey, 91, of Sherman, Texas, who passed away on his birthday, October 3, 2017, will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 10am at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman, Texas. Rev. David Murphy of Northpark Baptist Church in Sherman will officiate. The family will greet friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday at Dannel Funeral Home. Dean was born October 3, 1926 in Cobb, Oklahoma to Beulah and Norris Cathey. He attended Cobb schools and attended Southeastern University after graduating from high school. He then enlisted in the United States Army in 1946. After Dean completed his service in the army, he met the love of his life, Wanda Lou Compton. They married June 15, 1951 in Malvern, Arkansas. The couple lived in several cities, including Durant, Waco, and Dallas before settling in Sherman. Dean was in the auto industry and worked as a auto parts manager most of his career. He loved his family foremost and was a great husband, father, granddaddy, DD, and great granddad. Dean was always smiling and truly happy. He loved to tease and make people laugh. He and Wanda also loved going to Choctaw Casino in Durant. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Norris and Beulah Cathey, in laws, Fred and Pauline Compton, his beloved son Larry Cathey, sister and brother in law, Jean and Jesse Walker. He is survived by his loving wife, partner and best friend, Wanda, daughter in law, Cinda Cathey, grandsons Kiel Cathey and wife Ashley, and Colton Cathey, great granddaughter Kinzleigh Cathey, sister and brother in law Farl and Dick Tubb of Portland, Oregon, nephews Mike and Tim Tubb of Portland, niece Leigh Ann Bryson of Shawnee, Oklahoma and many, many friends.
