Obituary For Derl Tucker

Memorial Services for Derl Wayne Tucker, 79 of Sherman, who passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2017 in Whitesboro, TX will be held at Dannel Funeral Home on Saturday, January 13, at 1pm. Derl Wayne Tucker, of Sherman, TX, and formerly of Denison, passed from this life on Saturday, December 30, 2017, in Whitesboro, TX. Derl was born in Kemp, Oklahoma on May 2, 1938 to Lon Tucker and Arkie Velma (Holder) Tucker. He attended school in Kemp and graduated from Kemp High School in 1957. He was a very talented basketball player during his high school years, who was known at times to play a little rough. He worked at Ashburn’s Ice Cream in Denison, TX for several years while attending High School and after graduating. Derl retired after 32+ year from the M-K-T Railroad of Denison, TX as an Accountant. While at M-K-T he was a Union Represented for the clerks for many years. And worked for the SISD for another 10 years in Sherman, TX. He loved sports and being outdoors; fishing and hunting along with camping. He spent several years refereeing basketball and umpiring softball. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and his five sisters. Mr. Tucker leaves behind his beloved wife, Fran Tucker of Sherman, TX, whom he married in 1987; daughter Penny Lamb and husband, George of Corpus Christi, TX, Grandson DJ Jackson, of The Colony, TX and Danny Jackson and wife Megan of Corpus Christi, TX. Son Kenneth Tucker of Howard, Colorado, Grandson Kenny Tucker and wife Mariann of Sand Springs, OK and Matt Tucker and wife Kristen of Sand Springs, OK. Son Carl Tucker of Houston, TX. Six great grandchildren. Step-children, daughter Ronda and Bill Prueter of Denton, TX, grandson James Fredrick, son Ray Hammons and Karen of Gordonville, TX and son Robert Hammons and Vickie of Sherman, TX, Granddaughters Misty Kalla, Kristy and grandsons Dakota and Montana Hammons. Five great grandchildren.

    I grew up and attended school with Derl. I last talked to him at a Kemp High School a few years ago after over 50 years of my absence. He was a good man and had good parents. I send my sincerest condolences to his family and my thoughts and prayers will be with you during this difficult time. May God comfort you.
