Diana Lynn Schoppaul Sims Greer was born on January 28, 1939, in Oak Cliff, Texas, to Virginia and James Schoppaul. She graduated from W.H. Adamson High School in 1957 where she was a senior class favorite, a majorette, and a member of the National Honor Society. She attended the University of Texas at Austin in 1958. With her bright smile, big laugh, and heavy Texas twang, Diana won the hearts of many. She loved to socialize, play bridge, cook, and entertain. She was an adventurer, made friends throughout the world, and always had a travel bag close at hand. Diana was committed to volunteerism and civic service. She was president of Junior Tuesday, a literary club, a member of the Sherman Garden Club, a cultural ambassador to the Philippines, a benefactor of Habitat for Humanity, and a member of the Texas Silver Haired Legislature, where she earned the title, the Honorable Diana Greer. She was entrepreneurial. Her businesses included Diana’s Catering, the Atrium Executive Suites, and the Yacht-O-Fun luxury charters. Most of all, she was an amazing mother and grandmother, or GMa, as she was often called. Her family includes: son Steve Sims, daughter-in-law Kathy Sims, grandkids Austin and Conner Sims; her son Brad Sims; her son Kevin Sims, grandkids Roland, Pippa, and Lillian Sims; her stepson Lee Greer, daughter-in-law Ellen Greer, granddaughter Katherine Greer; her stepson Andy Greer; her stepson Russell Greer, daughter-in-law Shelley Greer. Diana’s passing was preceded by her brother, James Floyd Schoppaul, and her husband, Dewitt “Buddy” Greer. A celebration of Diana’s life will take place at First United Methodist of Sherman, Binkley Hall, at 2:00pm, March 11, 2017. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Habitat for Humanity ( www.habitat.org ). You may sign the online guestbook at www.dannelfuneralhome.com.

Diana was a favorite friend. She and Buddy were so very cordial. We cruised the waters of Lake Texoma on occasion, either on the Yacht of Fun or on our boat. Diana always had a smile and polite, friendly manner where nothing seemed to bother her. We were so fortunate to have been blessed with her in this life. May we be blessed to meet her again. ~ Nancy and Jack Ridgeway, Pottsboro, Texas

Diana was a wonderful person. My wife and I first met her and Buddy when I charted the Yacht o Fun for an anniversary present for my wife. When we met them I thought we had known them for years, they made us so comfortable. After that we would hook up at time on the lake when we were out. It is sad that both have left us now. Rest in peace, Diana. ~ Ross & Paula Richardson, Sherman, Texas

There are not enough words to express our sadness at the passing of Diana. We were next door yacht neighbors at Lake Texhoma with Buddy and Diana and have such great memories of our friendship and the fun we shared. Diana was one of a kind who had such a sweet spirit and cared about everyone and was a dear friend. We had reconnected recently and had many good times. We will miss her so much. Our condolences to her sweet family. Rest in Peace and rise in Glory, Diana. ~ Nena & Ken Boyd, Grapevine, Texas

There are so many nice and great things to say about Aunt Dinana. My first is always being a kid. Our grandmother, Ma Simmie, always wanted her kids and grandkids around at Christmas. With her 5 kids and spouses and grandkids it was a full house in her little place on Cooper Street. Diana was the adult who always noticed us as kids and paid us attention-- made us feel special and important. We always looked forward to seeing her. ~ Lynn Sims, oklahoma city, Oklahoma

Diana was a forever friend, and I loved her dearly. We were friends all through school and shared so many good times together. Our last time together was in Dallas where we celebrated her belated birthday lunch and an afternoon at the movies which we both really enjoyed. I will miss her so much. ~ Lois Shanahan Jameson, Dallas, Texas
