Obituary For Diana Poston Dedwylder

We are deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved Diana Poston Smith Dedwylder, 83, of Arlington, Texas, on February 27, 2025.

Diana was born to Jon Eldridge Smith and Martha Tony Smith Dixon on June 5, 1941, in Gainesville, Florida. She met the love of her life, Charles Dedwylder, in 1958. They dated all through college at the University of Southern Mississippi. Right after college, they were married and started their forever family. They were blessed with three sons. All while raising a family, she was also blazing trails as a fierce and fearless leader in the real estate industry for over 45 years. Although she was a pioneer in her industry, her family and lake time were the most important to her. All of her grandchildren grew up going to Nana and Papa's lake house; and she wouldn't have it any other way. Although our fearless matriarch is no longer physically with us, we know she is still with us in spirit. To know Diana was an experience in itself. She left a lasting impression that would not allow you to ever forget her. Diana was the most loyal wife, mother and friend. She blessed us with many special moments and fond memories. As a family, we will make sure these memories live on and honor her in only the best way possible.

Diana is survived by her brother William Dixon; husband Charles; sons and their wives John & Michal, Chuck, David & Michelle; grandchildren Erin, Katie, Katrina, Blair, Charles, Emma, Wyatt, and Whitney; great-grandchildren Crue, Blakely, Wylder, Charleston, and Everson.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held in Bonham, Texas, Saturday, April 26, at 11:00 am. If you would like to attend and/or share a special memory of our beloved Diana, please email memoriesofdianad@gmail.com.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St.Jude’s Childrens Hospital (stjude.org).

Too many memories of Diana and you, Charles. The many years you were in our lives. Eugene, the boys' sports, trip to the coast, hours at baseball fields, birthday celebrations. She was in my mind just last week and when I sent a Valentine's Day card. I wish we had had more visits, but Eugene's passing and distance intervened. I'll miss her. Mary Jane Pope 3-6-25

Nana, we will miss your unwavering love and strong presence! Going in the golf cart with you to feed the horse & donkey at the lake house is one of my fondest childhood memories. Your absence is truly felt. I love you, and always will! I'm sure if you were here you'd tell me you loved me more. Rest easy <3

She was a force to be reckoned with! I am so thankful to have known her all my life. She taught me a lot and was the strongest woman ever and also fiercely loyal. All my love and prayers to the Dedwylder family!
