Obituary For Diane Sutton

Diana Louise Grogan Sutton June 2, 1948-April 29, 2017 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Diana Louise Grogan Sutton. Diane passed from this life on Saturday morning, April 29, 2017, at the age of 68. She was born on June 2, 1948 in Kansas City, Kansas, and was the middle child of Marion “Jack” and Janelle Owens Grogan. Diane received her education in the Sherman ISD, and graduated from Sherman High School in 1966. She worked for several businesses in the Sherman area including, Gibson’s Discount Center, Douglass Distributing, Wacker’s, and was an Executive Secretary for the Sheraton Inn Hotel. Her final employment was with the Sherman Police Department where she worked as a records clerk until she retired. She was also the Treasurer of the SHS Class of 1966 Reunion Committee. Diane married Von Sutton on November 11, 1966. This past year they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Together, Von and Diane had three children, Cindy, Bradley and Matthew, whom she loved dearly, and was blessed with three grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Those that personally knew Diane, knew that she loved serving her Lord, and Savior. She was one of the most effective prayer warriors, and if anyone ever needed prayer, she was just a phone call away. She loved the Lord with all her heart. Most of all, she loved music, and singing in church. One of her greatest joys was singing with her children. Diane’s walk with Christ began during a revival at the old First Pentecostal Church at Jones and Maxey Streets in 1959. She was a member of Grace Tabernacle until it closed, and then became a longtime member of Harvest Time Assembly of God Church. Diane is survived by her husband, Von Sutton, son, Bradley Sutton, son and daughter-in-law, Matt and DeAnn Sutton, three grandchildren, Robert Hickman and wife Cass, and Lauren and Landry Sutton. She is also survived by her sister, Ginger Choate, brother-in-law Gary Choate, sister-in-law, Donna Mayo and husband Butch, dear friend and sister-in-law, Brenda Sutton and husband Ronald, sister-in-law Joanne Adams and husband David as well as several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy Sutton Hickman, her parents, Jack and Janelle Grogan, and her brother, Steve Grogan. Family visitation will be 6pm to 8pm, Friday, May 5, 2017, at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman. Services will be 10am, Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Harvest Time Assembly of God Church in Sherman with Pastors Nathan Cain, and Irby McKnight officiating. Burial will follow at West Hill Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her daughter Cindy.

Von,Brad,Matt,DeAnn & Grandkids: My heart has broken for you all this week. Our precious Di is so much better off, but I know your pain is deep. Diane was so sweet to me when I began attending Harvestime, insisting I sit w/ her and Von. She never knew how much that meant to me. She was always a joy to see with her beautiful smile. I cherish the days these last few years I had to enjoy her company. She was a true definition of the word Christian. I love you guys. I'm praying for you continually....Jan Norris
