Obituary For Don Ray Monnier
Don Ray Monnier, 93, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2024, at his home in Frisco, TX. Born in Kenmore, New York, he was the youngest son of Felix and Alma Bach Monnier.
Don served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1954. Following his service, he married Myrna FitzSimmons on October 6, 1956. Together, they embraced their faith and were sealed for time and eternity in the Los Angeles Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on May 6, 1972. They were blessed with four children: Donna Brooke, Heidi Allen, Karen Ayala, and Steve Monnier.
Throughout his life, Don worked in a variety of roles, including as a foundry worker for General Electric, on the green chain at a lumber mill, as a prison guard at a federal penitentiary, and later with the Federal Aviation Administration, from which he retired in April 1994. He had a knack for home improvement and took great pride in painting houses, both inside and out.
Don took up running in his late 40s, finding a passion that carried him across finish lines and milestones. At age 50, he completed two marathons in Portland, Oregon, a testament to his determination and commitment to personal growth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Alma, his brother Eugene, and his beloved aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 11000 Eldorado Parkway, Frisco, TX
