Obituaries

Doris Marilyn Stubber of Sherman, mother, sister and friend passed away at the age of 90 on Sunday, December 5th, 2021 at 12:55 surrounded by her sons and other close relatives.

Born February 4th, 1931 in Johnsonburg, Pennsylvania. She attended school at Johnsburg High School where she participated in many activities including the Drum and Bugle Corps.

Marrying her boyfriend of high school, an enlisted man in the Air Force, Mark John Stubber, on December 12th, 1953 (MJS to DMD 12.12.53). They began their life together of family, travel, and adventure. Having lived in Tennessee, Zaragoza and Madrid Spain, Wisconsin, Montana, Florida, and Ohio before settling in Sherman, Texas.

Many activities that she enjoyed in this life included: supporting her husband with his duties as an Air Force Officer and later as a school teacher in both the Plano and Sherman Independent school districts; supporting her children in their various activities; enjoying her grandchildren; being a member of the Trinity United Presbyterian Church; gardening, exercising, decorating her home with unique pieces and antiques, donating time with the Sherman Independent School District helping challenged children learn to read, attending plays at the Finley Playhouse, and was an accomplished bridge player.

Doris is survived by her sons Mark Stubber, Craig Stubber, Ross Stubber, Gene and wife Bonnie Stubber; grandchildren Nathan Stubber, Austin Stubber, Ben Stubber, Emily Stubber, Ryan Holloway and Jordan Stubber; great grandchildren Emmet Holloway and Finley Holloway, nieces, nephews and friends. Doris was preceded in death by her parents J. Edwin and Doris Rippon Davies, brothers Edwin Davies, Vaughn Davies and sister Ann Raynard.
