Dorothy Jean Hanna, 88, of Sherman, Texas, passed away on October 23, 2026 in Sherman, Texas.

Graveside services will be held 11AM on October 28, 2026 at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park with Pastor Chris Sanders officiating. Arrangements are by Dannel Funeral Home.

Dorothy was born in Brownwood, Texas to George Washington Matlock and Doris Bessie Grooms on June 25, 1938. She married Sam Hannah on February 14, 2003 in Sherman, Texas. She worked as a caregiver for many years taking care of the elderly. She loved tending to her backyard garden, bird watching, and spending time with her family. She was a social butterfly and never met a stranger. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Dorothy is survived by Spouse Sam Hanna, Son Eugene Johnson and his wife Cindy Johnson, Daughter Angela Gwinn and her husband Danny Gwinn, Granddaughter Amanda Wilson and her husband Braden Wilson, Granddaughter Lisa Wood and her husband Kevin Wood, Grandson Jacob Johnson, Great Grandchildren Ethan Wood, Reagan Wood, and Evelyn Wood.
