Dorothy Ann "Dot" McElroy, 82, of Sherman passed away suddenly at home on Wednesday, July 12, 2017. Dot was born September 8, 1934 in Wichita Falls to Joe and Lottie Chaney. She was a baton-twirling majorette at Wichita Falls High School, where she met the love of her life, Gene Bruce McElroy. She attended Midwestern University before they married on July 23, 1955. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma, and G.G (Great Grandma), an avid reader and Cowboy fan who made a mean meatloaf. Dot was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She and Gene served Meals on Wheels in both Baltimore, MD and Sherman for over 30 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Lottie; brother, Bill Chaney; sister, Jo Moore; and son Gene Bruce McElroy, Jr. She is survived by her husband, Gene Bruce McElroy; sister Bobbie James; daughters and sons in law, Kimberly Ann and Doug Bucy of Sherman; Katherine Elaine and Fred Briski of Rockford, Ill.; and daughter in law Kellye Smith of Springdale, AR. She has seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday July 16, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Dannel Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 17 at 1pm at Grace United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers for Dot will be Michael Franklin, Daniel Franklin, Drew McElroy, Keith McElroy, Fred Briski, James McElroy, Gerald McElroy, and Robert Watson.
