Services for Dorothy Ann Fitch Tolbert,98, of Sherman, who passed away on December 31, 2017, will be held at Dannel Funeral Home on Thursday, January 4, 2018, at 11:00am. Rev. Lisa Perkins of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Sherman will officiate. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Dorothy was born on October 24, 1919, on the Fitch family farm, which is where Sherman High School sits today. Her parents were Roy and Mildred Elekane Fitch. Dorothy graduated from Sherman High in 1937 and then attended Austin College where she was the college historian until she graduated in 1941. In June of 1942, she married Robert Lee Tolbert. She worked at Quaker Oats until she gave birth to a daughter, Elizabeth, and then two years later she had a son, Tommy. After retirement, she and her husband traveled the world and played bridge. Dorothy was an avid and very skilled bridge player, always accepting invitations to play wherever there was a game. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian and went to circle meetings and was always available to help when needed. She will be greatly missed. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Harper-Woods and husband Billy: son, Roy (Tommy) Tolbert: granddaughter, Linsey W. Woods: great-great grandson, Zander Jett Keith Cullom: nieces, Anne Price and Kathy Eskridge and Judy Stallings. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her sister.
