He also attended First Baptist Church in Van Alstyne during his senior year. He continued to serve as an active church member during his college and medical school years. Dr. Kelly saved my husband's life last October after a horrendous motorcycle vs semi accident. My husband, Caleb, had such a horrible bleeding injury from his right leg that he received 87 units of blood in the first 24 hours. If Dr. Kelly and his team hadn't stabilized his leg with an x-fix that night, my husband would have died. Dr. Kelly's meticulous, methodical surgical skills allowed my husband to keep his right leg and walk again. We were so fortunate to have Dr. Kelly in our life. May he rest in peace ❤ I'm so sorry for your loss.

Drew and I met in 2015 while doing summer research at Austin College. He was someone I idolized for his work ethic, intelligence, and faith. I stayed with him overnight before interviewing at his medical school. He was an MS1 in the midst of challenging basic science classes, yet he still found time to get up for early morning bible self-study and prayer each morning. There he was, in the dim light of his small College Station apartment before sunrise, strengthening his faith before going off to class for a full day of learning. This is just one example of how disciplined he was in all aspects of his life. I will miss Drew for the rest of my life, but my life is better because I knew him.

As a nurse I called him to give a time when his surgery would start, he answered. I could hear kids splashing in the background, he said "oh good that gives me time to Finish giving my children a bath & put them to bed". Made my heart warm.

Kelly children, your father was an exceptional surgeon. He cared that the patients bones were always fixed right. He worked exhaustedly to help the people. I am so lucky to have worked for him in the operating room. A nurse.
