Obituary For Duane Burns

A memorial service for Russel Duane “Bud” Burns, who passed away on Monday, November 27, 2017, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, will be held on Thursday, November 30, at 10am at Hagerman Baptist Church in Pottsboro, Texas. Reverend Neal Alexander of the church and Reverend Doug Lacy will officiate. Bud was born on July 22, 1966 in Denison, Texas to Clay and Janice Wright Burns. He was raised in the Pottsboro area and attended Pottsboro schools. He was very active in FFA in high school and raised a hog that won grand champion at the Houston Livestock Show. After high school he worked at Oscar Meyer for twelve years until the plant closed and eventually found his dream job as a self employed finish carpenter, whose talents were sought after by many local builders. He was a perfectionist in his trade and he did excellent work. He loved riding Harleys, dirt bikes, loved to calf rope, and just about everything that was dangerous. He also loved to dance to country music and be with his friends. Bud loved traveling with his friends and he loved his daughter Jayci and his son Tyler. He was a very supportive father and his children were his pride and joy. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Bud is survived by his children, Tyler Burns and Jayci Burns of Savoy; parents Clay and Janice Burns Pottsboro; sister Paula Samford and husband Russell of Pottsboro; nephews Jacob and Ryan Samford, both of Sherman, and many friends including his running buddy , his bulldog “Moose”.
