Obituary For Dudley Olds
Dudley Lee Olds, 83, of Denison, passed into eternal rest Sunday evening, April 6, 2014, from his home, surrounded by his loved ones. A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2014 in Dannel Funeral Chapel, with Minister Todd Catteau of Park Avenue Church of Christ, officiating. Dudley’s family will receive friends at Dannel Funeral Home one hour prior the service. Dudley was born in Van Alstyne, TX, on January 19, 1927, to Roger and Candace Grider Olds. He graduated from Van Alstyne High School and Austin College. He served in both the Merchant Marines and the United States Marine Corps during World War II, and was honorably discharged in November 1947. Just a few short weeks later, Dudley married the love of his life, Christine Lane, December 13, 1947. Their marriage was blessed with three sons. Dudley was preceded in death by his parents and his four sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Christine Olds; sons: Steve Olds and wife Rhonda of Lawrenceville, GA., Bruce Olds and wife Cindy of Cleveland, OH., and Douglas Olds and wife Debbie of Denison, TX; ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Dudley loved his family and his church – Park Avenue Church of Christ – where he was a faithful member for many years. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed doing his own lawn maintenance as long as his health allowed. He retired as Accounting Manager from British Petroleum Co., based in Cleveland, OH. In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored by memorial donations to Guardian Hospice at 614 N. Travis in Sherman, TX 75090, so that others may benefit from their exceptional care.
