Obituary For Durward Waller

H. Durward Waller, 82, of Sherman, passed from this life on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at Texoma Healthcare Center in Sherman. His family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, February 13th, at Dannel Funeral Home. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:30 Saturday morning, February 14th, in Friendship Cemetery. Rev. Raymond England will officiate, assisted by Rev. Dolan Thornhill, Jr. Mr. Waller was born July 18, 1932, in Waynesboro, MS, to Charles P. and Annie Jones Waller. He was the tenth of eleven children born into this home. After moving to north Texas in 1965, he and his brother A.W. owned and operated Waller Bros. Oil Co. Durward eventually bought out A.W. and continued to run the company as sole owner. After closing out the oil business, Durward invested several years into landscaping before declining health forced his retirement. Durward was preceded in death by his parents, C.P. and Annie Waller; his brothers: Van, Joe, Grady, A.W., Neolan, Dewey and Don L. Waller; and one sister, Lavelle Barnett. He is survived by his loving wife, Arla, of Sherman; step-son Glen Bates and his wife Sandy, of Sherman; step-daughters, Janis Kenneday and husband Doug, of Sherman, and Deanna Reyna and husband Ramirez, of Houston; two sisters, Annie Lou Dearman, of Meridian, MS, and Lettie V. Ford, of Waynesboro, MS; two sisters-in-law, Wanda Minchey and Bonnie Franks; three brothers-in-law, James, Joel and Jay Pitts; three step-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Honorary pallbearers are: David Waller, Beemer Waller, Lester Dearman, Jay Pitts, Harold Pitts, Caden Noe, Colton Noe and Austin Burnett. Mr. Waller's family would like to express their appreciation to the entire staff of Texoma Healthcare, with special thanks to Sherry, Cinnamon, Scarlett, Sylvia, Susie, Michael, Athena and Marissa, for their attentive, loving care. Also, in recent weeks the team from Guardian Hospice has been a huge blessing. Thank you Natalie, Martha, Toni, Rose and Melissa!
