Edith Kathleen Sims 93 of Sherman died Thursday May 19 2011 at Texas Health Presbyterian-WNJ. Graveside services will be held Monday May 23 2011 at 10 a.m. with Rev. A. D. Kyle of East Sherman Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home 4-6 p.m. on Sunday May 22. Edith was born in Denton County on March 15 1918 to Walter W. and Mabel E. Graves. She graduated as salutatorian of the class of 1935 from Pilot Point High School. She married Henry Sims on Oct. 13 1937 in Sherman. She worked as a seamstress at Pool Mfg. Co. After the accident of her son she became a stay-at-home mom taking care of her family. She was an active member of East Sherman Baptist Church. Edith was preceded in death by her parents husband son Donald Ray Sims sister Edna Pearl Graves and granddaughter Sherry Lynn Stewart. She is survived by a daughter Pat Stewart and husband Stanley of Dorchester, a sister Hazel Ryon of Sherman, sisters-in-law Lorene Brown and Jimmie Mann of California, five grandchildren: Rene Jones Lisa Parker Tim Sims Kimberly Dodson and Kenneth Stewart, eight great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be nephews. Memorials may be made to the Home Hospice of Grayson County P.O Box 2306 Sherman TX 75091.
