Obituary For Edward Wilson
Edward Clark “Bud” Wilson, longtime Sherman resident passed away Monday, April 27, 2015 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 1, 2015, 10:00 a.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church. Reverend Denise Odom will officiate. Bud was born November 20, 1923 to Ross Wilson and Capitola Clark Wilson at Wilson N. Jones Hospital. Upon graduation from Sherman High School in May 1941, he went to work for Fant Milling Company as advertising and promotion manager. In 1943, he was called by the army, serving three years during World War II, mainly in the South Pacific theater (New Guinea to Manila). In 1949, he married the love of his life, Anita June Elkins. They were married 59 years until her passing in January 2008. In 1950, Bud went to work for Pool Manufacturing. He traveled throughout North Central and East Texas, selling work clothes, meeting many new friends and telling lots of tales! In 1952, Bud and June opened The Thimble Fabric Shop in downtown Sherman, a much loved and frequented piece goods store where your purchase included excellent sewing tips and advice. A second store was opened in Denison in 1963. Bud ran the Denison shop until he had a heart attack in 1969 and decided to sell the store. The Sherman store remained open until 1970. At that time, Bud and June begin spending summers at an RV park in Vallecito, Colorado where Bud worked as all-around carpenter, electrician, plumber, and resident storyteller. In 1993, they returned to Sherman for full retirement until Bud took a job at Crazy Crow Trading Post. He often said to owner and close friend, Rex Reddick, “You hired me for a 3 month project and you have kept me here for 10 years!” Bud loved to work and even after his retirement at 80 years old in 2003, he was busy in his shop and helping friends repair whatever might be broken. After June’s passing in 2008, Bud moved to the Renaissance where he enjoyed swapping stories with other residents, and the company of his beloved pug, Dolly. Bud was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church his entire life. He loved his church and the fellowship of its members. Survivors include one nephew and two nieces. Bud’s extended family includes Lester and Laura Terrell, Lee and Bootie Terrell, and Rex and Ginger Reddick. He was especially fond and thankful for Dr. Tocatjian and nurse Tonya, and his home health nurses and therapists - Tonya, Pam, Amanda, Nicole, Heath, Trey, and Cheryl Inman. If desired, memorials may be made to the Covenant Presbyterian Church, 322 W. Pecan Street, Sherman, TX 75090 or donor’s favorite charity.
