Obituary For Edwin Earl Hestand
Edwin Earl Hestand was born September 19, 1936, to the late Rufus Earl and Dorothy Marie (Farrington) Hestand. He passed away peacefully in Denison, Texas, on June 12, 2022. He married Shirley Ann Griffith in November 28, 1953, and they moved to Sherman, Texas in 1954. They enjoyed 68 wonderful years together and had 3 sons and a daughter. From those children, came an abundance of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a great-great grandchild. Edwin loved and cherished every one of them with his entire heart.
Edwin was a wonderful gardener for most of his life and really had a green thumb. He shared his bumper crops each year with his family and friends. His children helped him till and work his garden every Saturday while growing up. While Edwin enjoyed hunting in his younger years, he loved fishing, cooking, and camping, especially every 4th of July at Lake Texoma. He was great at raising pigs and watching westerns, especially old Gunsmoke episodes. But what Edwin was truly famous for was his pinto beans. Everyone raved over his pinto beans!
Edwin was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Wilbert Lee Hestand and Kenneth Hestand. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Shirley of Sherman; 3 sons: Tony Hestand and wife Susie of Ravenna, Texas, Phillip Hestand of Sherman, and Gary Hestand and wife Lisa of Austin, Texas; daughter, Debbie Harvey and husband Theo of Whitewright, Texas; sister, Jackie Turner; brother, Jerry Hestand; 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; Edwin was also survived by a lot more he loved and cherished in this world as family and friends.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at 10am at Akers Cemetery in Sherman. Pastor CD Ballard will officiate. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman. There will be a reception following the service Thursday at Liberty Lighthouse Church, 110 W. Mulberry St. in Sherman. All are welcomed to attend.
