Obituary For Elizabeth Ann Henderson
Elizabeth “Annie” Ann Hopkins Henderson, loving mom, daughter and grandma, age 63 of Longmont, Co., passed away on November 16th 2021 in Longmont, Co. due to Covid-19 and underlying health conditions.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on November 30th 2021 at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman, Texas. Reverend Denise Peckham and Reverend Joe Ed Goolsby of First United Methodist Church will be officiating. Arrangements by Dannel Funeral Home. (MASKS REQUIRED)
Annie first graced God's green earth August 11, 1958. The daughter of Arthur Gorman Hopkins Jr. and Evelyn Hillhouse Hopkins, she went to Sherman Public Schools, The Forman School in Litchfield, Ct., and Grayson County College. She was married to Fred Ray Pine in 1976 and then later married Donald Henderson. At the time of her passing, Annie and Michael Robert Hardway, after meeting in Aurora, Colorado in 1997, completed their lives in Colorado after 24 wonderful years together.
Annie was a CNA in many nursing homes and assisted living facilities throughout Texas and Colorado. She loved her patients like family, and often she would go out of her way to do little things for them to improve their quality of life. For a time she was a Scrub Tech in Texas and Colorado. In 2011 she became a caregiver at Golden West Assisted Living for 9 years until her health no longer permitted her to work in the field.
Annie is preceded in death by her father Arthur Gorman Hopkins Jr. and her daughter Mindy Ann Pine.
Annie is survived by her life partner Michael Robert Hardway who passed away 9 days later due to Covid-19 complications: son David Pine and his wife Nicole Pine, brothers David Hopkins and Dr. Brian Preston Hopkins and his husband Dr. Michael McNett, mother Evelyn Hillhouse Hopkins, and grandchildren Bradly, Matthew, and Joshua.
Annie was a fiercely loving and abundantly caring person. Her nurturing instincts ran deep, and she often became a second mom to many of her son's friends. Her massive dedication and support for those around her often turned mere friendships into family. Determination and stubbornness were marks of her personality, no matter how down things were, no matter how impossible the situation looked, Annie always found a way to triumph with a positive attitude. Her love for her only son transcended the heavens themselves, nothing else mattered more. Her heart was large, her laugh filled the room to the brim, and her food comforted the soul and brought strangers together. Annie was a very skilled artist, and regularly garnered inspiration from the great Norman Rockwell. She even knew how to paint with Skittles candies. Her grandchildren called her Granny Annie which would always bring a smile to her face. Annie’s love and light will be missed in this world. Her favorite prayer was the Serenity Prayer, it brought her peace, and we share this with you now in hopes it will bring you some as well.
God, grant me the Serenity To accept the things I cannot change Courage to change the things I can And Wisdom to know the difference Living one day at a time Enjoying one moment at a time Accepting hardship as the pathway to peace Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is Not as I would have it Trusting that He will make all things right If I surrender to His will That I may be reasonably happy in this life And supremely happy with Him forever in the next Amen
Memorials in her memory may be given to The Music Ministry at First United Methodist Church 401 N. Elm st. Sherman, Tx. 75090 or a favorite charity of your choice.
