Obituary For Erin Lynn Purdom

Erin Lynn Purdom, 43, of Sherman, passed away April 4, 2021. A memorial service is scheduled for 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 10, 2021, in Dannel Funeral Chapel. Erin’s cousin Tim Epting, of Denton, will officiate.

Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather at Mariachi’s Mexican Food Restaurant at 1909 Texoma Parkway in Sherman.

Erin was born in Sherman, Texas on August 20, 1977. She graduated from S&S CISD in 1996, and then attended Grayson County College from 1996-1998. Erin was employed by Goodwill Industries of Northeast Texas from 1996-1999, and again from 2018 until her passing. Erin was a full-time mother of her two beautiful children, Ashlynn and Dylin, as well as a full-time aunt to her nephew Devin, and her niece Addisin whom she loved as her own children.

Erin had a passion for family, friends and co-workers. She loved each person dearly and uniquely. If you knew Erin, you knew her heart was kind and pure. Erin was the peacekeeper among her family and friends. Erin loved all animals. She treated dogs and cats as her children. In fact, she never met a pet that was not instantly her best friend. Erin loved watching her children, her niece and her nephew participate in sports. She was confident that nephew Devin was going to make it big on the football field one day. Erin never missed an opportunity to cheer her ‘kids’ at any sporting event; hot, cold or rainy, she was there!

Erin is survived by her children: Ashlynn Raney Purdom (Sissy), and Dylin Christopher Watson (Boo), both of Sherman; mother, Connie Lynn Epting Purdom; father Walter Frank Purdom, Jr, and long-time girlfriend Charity Jasper, of Sherman; sister – and best friend – Carin Leigh Purdom and boyfriend of 11 years, Scott Harlan; Carin’s children: Devin Dwain Hunter Jackson (Poopy) and Addisin Ruby Jeanette Purdom (Addie), all of Sherman. Carin and Erin’s kids were all one family, and Erin loved them equally! Erin is also survived by her boyfriend of 21 years – and the father of her children – Christopher Watson, of Denison. Survivors also include her paternal grandparents, Walter Frank and JoAnn Purdom, of Sherman; numerous aunts and uncles: Kathy Epting and long-time boyfriend Jack Daniel, of Richardson; Debbie and Steve Ellis, of Denison; Larry and Jerri Ann Epting, of Sherman; David and Jessica Purdom, of Whitesboro; Jerry Epting, of Austin; and Becky Epting, of Pottsboro. A host of cousins also mourn Erin’s passing: David Ellis and wife Julie and their daughters, of Lubbock; Bo Justin Epting and wife Barbara and their daughters, of Sanger; Brandi Ellis and sons, of Denison; Joanna Epting and children, of Sherman; Thomas Jacob Epting and daughter, of Sherman; Austin and Lauren Purdom, of Whitesboro; and Rebeka and husband Kyle Bielefeldt and their children, of Greenville.

Also surviving are a few ‘best friends’ including: Jessica Droese, Audra Dick, Kris Hash and far too many more to list.

The list of survivors would be incomplete without her dogs: Dusty, PJ and Rocky; and cats: Clementine and Jose!

Erin is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Jack Raney and Ruby Jeanette Epting, of Sherman; great-grandparents: Endula and Riley Purdom, of Van Alstyne; Addie and Carl Watts, of Sherman; Dove and Roy Epting, of Sherman; and Frank James and Anne Mae Fox, of Gunter.

There is a GoFundMe page set up to help with the future education expenses of Ashlynn and Dylin at https://www.gofundme.com/f/ashlynn-and-dylin-a-future-trust?
