Ernest H. Meredeith, 91, of Sherman, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2014, at his home, completing his courageous five year battle with congestive heart failure. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 17, 2014 at Dannel Funeral Chapel. Rev. Rob Sheppard of East Sherman Baptist Church will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Interment will follow immediately after the conclusion of the service in Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Ernest was born November 29, 1922, in Sherman, TX, to Marvin F. and Effie Lee Moore Meredeith. He married Fredna Lara Owen on July 9, 1942. They enjoyed 63 years together before Fredna was called to her heavenly home September 17, 2005. They were blessed with one son, Freddie Joe Meredeith. Together, they devoted over 25 years in volunteer service at the Bonham V.A. Hospital. Ernest later married Norma McClure. She was at his side when God said it was time for him to come home. Ernest was a man of many talents. He was a radio and television repair man, having owned his own shop at one time in his life. He learned carpentry from his father. He was a ham radio operator for fifty five years. In the early years, he worked with the police department alerting for hazardous weather conditions. He enjoyed working in the yard and garden. He loved to see things grow and loved to give vegetables away to friends and family. He retired from CableCom, which later became CableOne. He helped in the placement of the towers and the fine-tuning of the microwave signals that make the pictures as we see them today. Ernest is survived by his wife Norma; son Freddie Joe Meredeith and his wife Susan, of Sanger, TX; step-children Leah Raines of Pottsboro; Mark Raines and caregiver Beverly Ellis, of Denison, TX; Forrest Raines and his wife Shannon, of McKinney, TX; grandchildren Ryan Meredeith and Michael Meredeith, of Sanger, TX; sister Mattie Mae Mitrovich of Redding, CA; brothers, Virgil Wall and his wife Izella, of McKinney, TX, and Glenn Wall and his wife Diane, of New Hampshire; niece Donna Leistinger and husband Lynn of Redding, CA; nephew Steve Meredeith and his wife Justine Mitrovich; step-grandchildren Michael and Jordan Raines of McKinney, and Jeremy Raines and wife Kia of Bells.
